Vietnam's Geneva line, 1954
17°00′N
The 1954 line that split Vietnam for 21 years: drawn at a river, remembered as a parallel.
The 1954 Geneva agreement temporarily separated northern and southern military zones near the Bến Hải River. The river lies close to 17°N, so the division became known by a latitude it did not exactly follow.
